What the?

I saw this picture on Design Sponge and for some reason (ha)
find it oddly familiar (minus the counter clutter).
But now that I see this, it makes me want to change my kitchen design to something else. (I can already hear Brendan now.... !??!)

Bye Big Old Press, Hello Little New Old Press!

We will be turning the studio into a guest house, so our parents & friends will have a place to stay when they visit...also we have plans to run a B&B there (more on that later). So the big old press had to go. We were fortunate to fetch a good price for him. Luckily, I have acquired another press, same make {Chandler & Price}, but smaller - you can see the little fella behind me on the floor. I will fix him up, paint him (sea foam blue perhaps) and add some new parts (rollers). I didn't get much time in with the big guy, when I was pregnant (just made some Christmas cards one year), and now post-pregnancy, there ain't no way I would have time to work on it as much. It made sense to sell and make room for the more practical stuff in life.
Miriam came over and took some pictures of the press for me before it got picked up. I like this one with Konrad holding onto the crank. cutie boy.

Kaiser Bounce

The latest, and cutest video made by Brendan.
At a recent fun gathering in the Boro it seems that
Ivan is still the favorite for athletic, fun fun.

Miriam Definitely Passed the Mom Test

Miriam watched Konrad when we went to see Unwigged & Unplugged the other night. Her blog post on it is adorable, here is a link to her site.

Intro to Camping 509

We took Konrad camping for the first time this past weekend at Catoctin National Park. Brendan made a great video of it here at his new web site.  (Yeah, Brendan got so good at making the videos that he went out and started his own blog site.)

Unwigged & Unplugged

Last night was our first 'night out'. A month ago, the idea didn't seem that bad, so I booked tickets to go see Unwigged & Unplugged at the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore, MD. I thought it would be the best surprise for Brendan since he is a big fan of Christopher Guest films and their music. I also made reservations at the Owl Bar (known for their fish & chips, but my fish turned out rotten) for dinner. All went well, except my perception of time was pretty poor and dinner had to be rushed and I had to keep Brendan walking at a fast pace to make the show on time. (Such plans with a post-preg mush brain can be pretty challenging)

I was 66.9 miles, 1.5 hours away from Konrad. Miriam was home with him, which was wonderful and even better, Shawna and Ruby would pay a visit, but what worried me was this was the first time he'd have to go to sleep without me, how would Miriam get Konrad down for bed? My thought was that he would most likely cry himself to exhaustion and then pass out. The thought of that made me nervous. But I kept telling myself, it's ok... he'll be fine... baby's cry for weeks all over the world for food, comfort.... it could be a lot worse... he needs this.... he'll be fine. When we left the theater, I literally was ready to run to the car and get home to Konrad. I called Miriam on our way and got the report that sure enough, he cried and cried and looked all around for us and cried. Oh I felt terrible, but now more for Miriam.

But, the show was great. Brendan was surprised and we got to hear all the great tunes from Spinal Tap, (Brendan got a t-shirt), A Mighty Wind, Best in Show, and more.

Today in the Shire

Konrad and I had a wonderful day. We spent most of it at the Gazebo where the Women's Club hosted a Mother's Day plant sale. Shawna, Ruby, and Miriam were there...we all hung out, it was so much fun. What a sweet little community we live in.

Miriam, of course took some fabulous photos of the day, you can check them out here at her blog. I couldn't resist snagging at least one of them and placing it in here.

a very happy Mother's Day indeed.

I bought some plants for our garden, tomatoes, jalapenos and serranos, cucumbers, and summer squashes. I felt like a kid in a candy shop...I wanted it all.

When it Rains it Pours

This past week has been a whirlwind of stuff. My parents came for a couple days, I've been under-the-weather, and it's been raining like mad here. Hmm, maybe Harpers Ferry will get it's long over-due flood (flood would end at the town's jurisdiction of course) and locals will have parking. Ok, that's not nice to think of.
I recently finished making 100 pamphlets for my Grandfather Douglas' memorial service ~ to be held tomorrow at one of the most beautiful little chapels I've ever seen. I will post some pictures of the chapel and pamphlets very soon. The ribbon I used is the real Douglas tartan, special ordered from Scotland. (I promise to post these pictures ++)
So, I am going to do some random posting here, just post what's been on my mind, what's been going on at our house, well just stuff...

This week Brendan picked up the new Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys albums for me. I wasn't too impressed with DM, but love love the Pet Shop Boys, Konrad likes it too, we've been dancing to it in the living room a lot.

We are smack in the middle of watching the Black Book. It's in Dutch, which makes it even better. Watching movies around Konrad's sleeping schedule can be a bit tricky. Luckily, we were able to make it halfway through this one..our goal is to finish it by next Thursday when I need to return it. Ha!!

Brendan stopped by my work with Konrad in the above Haba chariot. It's much bigger in real life and very funny to see the Kaiser sitting in it. Brendan said it was on sale.... $500 off !? Apparently, a good deal. We look forward to taking this thing to the beach and piling other friends kids in it for rides. But Brendan has been touting the the chariot by the neighbors children and they all just stop and stare at the Kaiser being wheeled by, mouths agape and all.

Miriam watched Konrad on Thursday and she made yet another fabulous blog post on her adventures with the Kaiser. You have to check it out.
