I was so happy to learn that Miriam keeps a blog too. The Stone House ~ another beautiful house in Harpers Ferry. Miriam blogged about her day with Konrad, it had me in tears when I read it. You can view it here:  Say Hello To My Little Friend.

Konrad and Miriam

Konrad got to spend the day and play with Miriam, the lucky guy. Though it was tough at times (Konrad has yet to be more socialized) they had some fun adventures. Miriam took some fabulous pictures of the Kaiser. Here are a few, with more coming soon.

Fun times in the Beer Garden with Ms. Mouse.

Come-on, what a life kid.

An afternoon stroll around the shire.

One of several naps.

Fennel Tea Addiction

I have been craving fennel tea since I left Germany. The fennel I've had here isn't good and doesn't have the same taste for some reason. I'm considering ordering some from German Deli.com They also carry it for babies so Konrad can have it in a couple months. It settles the stomach and makes me feel good...Hmm, am I addicted or what? A bit on the pricey side though. sigh.

Needing a Vacation...

The Soenneckens need a warm vacation! So we decided to book some flights to Brunswick, Georgia (for a long weekend over Valentines Day). We'll stay with my parents so they can get some good Kaiser time in. Above are some of the pictures from January 2006 when we last visited. (Yikes, that's a long time!)

I can't wait. I want to...

1. Ride Bikes and picnic on St. Simons or Jekyll Island
2. Eat Boiled Peanuts
3. (Brendan) shuck some oysters with Dad
4. Eat Fried Grouper
5. Have early morning and late evening walks under palm trees and live oaks.
6. Walk the beach
7. Enjoy Grandma Anne's cookn'
8. Get sand in my shoes and in Konrad's diapers
9. Eat more Boiled Peanuts
10. Sit on the screened-in porch and look for big long-legged birds in the marsh

Oh Happy Day!

The Obamas and Bidens wave as the Bushes depart the Capitol.

This picture is from the Washington Post (today) and it put a big smile on my face.

Cupcakes Gone Cute

Here are some fun things I found at Rose & Radish.

I think this is a cute idea (a toothpick prick), and not hard to make if I could find the fixin's in a craft store. It was made in Savannah, GA - I'll bet by an art student down there.

A Whole Lotta Stuff Going On

So many days have passed since my last blog entry, sorry about that, a lot has been going on.

I had a stupendous 35th birthday yesterday. I think it was probably the best birthday I can remember and it was spent at home with Brendan, Konrad, and Norman. Brendan made it truly a special day for me. Brendan made my favorite meal: Schnitzel, Spaetzle with a chanterelle cream sauce, and a deelish array of German salads. And I got to open some wonderful gifts from family!

Ruby and Konrad

Ruby is Konrad's first friend and she is two months older than him. Her Mom, Shawna and I became friends while we were pregnant. Today, Shawna and Ruby came to visit and play with Konrad while I was at work. I wish I could of been here for all the good times that they had together. Here are some pictures Shawna took of their play date.

2009

Happy New Year Everyone! I am very grateful for everything that happened in 2008, I will look back on the year with a big smile and feel very thankful.

I never looked into the New Year Ball that is dropped in New York City. This was this years, which is really pretty. If you want to read up on the ball it's here. I had no idea that it has been a tradition for 100 years. It's a strange thing really.
